Mkina joins new Jambo Leo

The former Editor of Kulikoni newspaper, Simon Mkina, who lost his job early this year following differences with Tanzania’s leading media mogul, Reginald Mengi has found a new place of work.

He has joined the new Jambo Leo as assistant to the chief editor and chief sub editor. “I see a bright future of the paper as its owners are committed and have sound financial muscle to take it to the peak,” he said.

After falling out with Mengi, Mkina tried to establish his own weekly, called Mawio, but the paper folded after less than ten issues.
Mkina, a veteran newspaperman with experience dating back to the early 90’s, rose from reporter to features editor before joining the government-owned Habari Leo as editor of its Sunday edition before moving to Mengi’s Kulikoni.
