Motorcycles have turned into the worst monsters that have maimed tens of journalists and claimed the life one in Tanzania. Most of the victims were involved accidents while riding their own bikes in search of news for their employers. Most newsrooms have been affected, but media owners are still not ready to shoulder the cost of news gathering.
The latest victim is a photographer at New Habari, Muhiddin Sufian, who has returned from Muhimbili Othopaedic Institute where he spent one month.
Robert Komba, also from New Habari, almost lost his right leg.The famous TV anchor, Pascal Mayalla, recently returned from treatment in India where his relatives rushed him after a road crash on his way from Dodoma for an assignment.
IPP Media is probably the most accident-hit news group. Bilham Kimathi, a reporter with The Guardian, stayed in hospital for a month.Richard Makole, a reporter with Nipashe, suffered major injuries on his way from the office late evening. Africa Media Group lost one of their dependable cameraman, Herry Makange.
